Hi,

this bug is a few months old by now, lets give it a hug. Are you still
using 8.04? Are you still experiencing these problems?

If you are still using 8.04, could you please post the output from the
following commands?

* lshw -C network
* uname -a

Next step:
In a terminal type "tail -f /var/log/syslog >> tail-of-syslog" and hit enter. 
Now unplug that router cable and watch ubuntu crash.
When you return to the desktop you'll hopefully find a file called 
"tail-of-syslog" in your home directory, please attach that file.
Also attach your complete syslog (/var/log/syslog) after this crash has 
occurred.
