Well, shucky-darns. I didn't get a chance to try last night, and I can't get the behavior to occur again this morning. I applied some updates this morning, but I doubt they were related to anything that would have fixed this "problem".
Assuming that I really won't be able to get it to happen again, two possibilities present themselves -- 1. There really was a problem with past into folder, and it got fixed by the updates. or 2. The luser was selecting background without realizing it, and is now doing it correctly following appropriate instruction. I think we all know which it is. I'm just going to stick my hands in my pockets, whistle tunelessly, and wander off now.
