Hi, actually there is something that could be done: you could create a script that modifies /etc/asound.conf so that output goes to pulseaudio, and put this script in upstart so that it is executed when the system is booted. Then, you make it a dependency of the pulseaudio package, and libasound2 a dependency of this script.
