Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu better. Regarding the clock setting problem you may want to have a look at http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/kernel-parameters.txt specifically the clock and clocksource kernel boot options.
I would suggest trying each of these and if you have any luck then to put on this report which one worked for you, assuming that is the problem.
