Confirming this bug on a Thinkpad T500. This seems to be a multiprocessor concurrency issue. There is a workaround on UbuntuForums: <http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6105510&postcount=12> that fixes the problem by temporarily disabling all but one processor cores on suspend.
