I'm having the same problems - on a Tecra M1 laptop. Basically, restart just hangs, suspend and wakeup causes the screen to be exceptionally large with no way to navigate around the screen - only the left top corner is displayed on the screen in very large format. I'm running 8.10 and I was hoping that the kernel upgrade would fix this problem - but regrettably not.
