Public bug reported:

Version 8.10

After automatically logging into GNOME (not sure if this important) and
all desktop panels have loaded the process indicator on the notification
area shows very high activity and tooltip indicated that processor is at
100%.

When I open the system monitor window and look at processes there is
only a total of about 30% CPU used by visible running processes but in
the graph tab it shows the CPU constantly between 95 and 100%

The load must be real because laptop gets hot and fans run constantly.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
