Frédéric, thanks for the tip and fast response. Based on my googling, this package is no longer necessary with 8.10. See this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libflashsupport/+bug/267749
Since I used the Update Manager to upgrade to 8.10 I am guessing it removed that package automatically. I will make sure I have "libasound2-plugins" installed as referenced by the bug above.
