Just installed the new 96 drivers. I have a geforce2 MX 400 (64 Mb). Needed to modify manually the xorg.conf (device part) like this:
Section "Device" Identifier "Configured Video Device" Driver "nvidia" Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "true" EndSection now it is working.
