- 2) click to load the file and select the option of "open with Openoffice

find an Opendocument file on the server. use either konqueror or dolphin
+ 2) click to load the file and, if in konqueror, select the option of "open 
with Openoffice [Spreadsheet, Writer, etc]"
  3) the splash screen for OO loads but nothing more happens
