Same issue here on a fresh intreprid install (not an update from 8.04): Total xorg freeze during ~20s and "[mi] EQ overflowing" in the xorg log.
nvidia 177.80 is installed. I'm on a laptop, only one screen, nothing but the automatically generated xorg.conf (no extra options). One usb mouse always plugged. I would be happy to test whatever you want to find where it comes from.
