Even further experimenting confirmed that this bug has nothing to do with FLGRX or the FOSS driver for Radeons - I was getting the corruption using the FOSS driver before - I just tried suspending using the FLGRX driver (after the switching fix) and no corruption happened - It's not the FOSS driver either because I am not getting corruption with it any more either
