Public bug reported:

After updating to the latest HAL version (0.5.7-1ubuntu18.2) in kubuntu
dapper with kde 3.5.5 installed it is no longer possible to mount USB
sticks. Unfortunately this seems to be a very recurrent problem and
occurs every time that there is either a KDE or a HAL update. Once again
the descriptive error message reads: "An unknown error has occurred"
when trying to double-click the USB icon when "media:/" is selected in
konqueror. Again, mounting as root works. Please find additional
detailed descriptions of this problem in bug # 65662.

** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
