For example, 
        with the current kernel package:

ii  linux-image-generic                          2.6.27.7.11

The previous kernel package seems to have a different naming convention:

ii  linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic                 2.6.27-7.15

Why is that? What kind of debug image I have to install?

I don't see any package with this particular version in the ddeb site
you mentioned.

BTW if I issue a uname, I get:

2.6.27-7-generic
