I can reproduce this error with Intrepid. I have encountered this error in 7.10 and 8.04 desktop and alternate cd too. 7.04, however, has completed the installation. I believe the error is not correlated to faulty memory or hard drive, since it stops always at the same percentage, and everything is working fine when doing everything else. Moreover, after searching on the forums, I notice that a lot of people who has this problem is doing the installation over an old version (this is my case too). Maybe this has something to do with the problem?
