I can confirm that this bug still occurs with desktop-effects on: Ubuntu/8.10 (intrepid) Gnome/2.24.1 Firefox/3.0.3
"unchecking Allow scripts" DID NOT work for me. Firefox still resizes over and obscures both panels.
