Guys, I've only had 7 days since you asked for more info and I just haven't had time to respond yet. As it is the bug is still there, but I'm not able to try out the latest development release of Ubuntu (the laptop is my primary work tool and I am unable to accommodate the downtime associated with trying out a new installation).
