I have a few questions to clear up my understanding of this problem. It
would be great if You can answer them.

1) Does VLC or WMP in windows use opengl to playback video?
2) Does windows have the capability to use opengl in more than one software? or
mac? Meaning, Is the problem that OpenGL cannot be used simultaneously (eg.
compiz and google-earth) smoothly the major problem in ubuntu?
3) does x11 as a playback device for Mplayer show video with less quality than
OpenGL?
4) What's the issue with DRI2? I have complete lack of understanding of DRI,
what it is, etc. So, in better words, when can I expect a complete and true
solution to this problem (OpenGL used by >1 soft. at a time? <--right?)

thanks
