Okay, with Driver "vesa", it works. Now I have two results on Kubuntu 8.10 RC: The first one (xorg.0.log.old) with 'Driver "i810"' in xorg.conf resulted in a complete system crash on startup, I did not see kdm, tty does not work, no reaction to any key. The second one (xorg.0.log) with no 'Driver' line in the xorg.conf showed up kdm, but when I logged in, the system crashed after the globe symbol appeard: I could still move the mouse pointer, but no reaction to any keys (including Caps Lock).
