I have this bug, and to answer Ian: 1. Do you have a line in /etc/fstab which could be causing this problem? Yes, the line is the same as the above.
2. Does removing it help? Yes, mounted flawlessly immediately after commenting it out. 3. Did you install Ubuntu from removable media, for example a USB CD drive or USB flash drive? Yes, I put the live CD/installer on a USB stick and installed from there.
