The problem could be with - k3b and the libraries it uses (unlikely though since it works over USB), - the kernel (try a newer Ubuntu kernel/ Ubuntu release if you can), - the FireWire bus (full output of "dmesg" from when the 1394 drivers are loaded till the failure occurred would be useful), - the drive's firmware.
FireWire interface and USB interface usually have entirely separate firmwares. Try firmware uploader utilities from http://ieee1394.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Firmware_Downloads --- they should show you if you have a matching chip and if you can install a newer firmware versions. If you don't know what chip the drive s based on, try the Prolific updater first. It requires Windows and works over USB. -- K3B cannot detect DVD writer on Firewire (Sony DVD RW DRU-710A) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/186434 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to k3b in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
