Public bug reported:

I've got hp 6735s. In ubuntu 8.04 there was no problem with sound. After
the upgrade to 8.10 beta my speakers were silent, but the headphones was
ok. After last update one channel in my headphones is down (i've got
sound only in the left ear). I thought that might be a hardware problem
so I checked on the fedora 9 livecd and now I'm pretty sure that it's a
software problem. My sound card

$ lspci | grep Audio
00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)

kernel version:
Kernel Linux 2.6.27-7-generic

alsa-base version:
1.0.17.dfsg-2ubuntu.

With 8.10 RC there is still no sound in speakers, but no problem with
headphones
