** Description changed: - Hello! This is about the latest Gutsy. + https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm-themes/+bug/164297/+edit + Hello! This is about the latest Gutsy. [Edit: still going on on Intrepid.] Currently, during login, the login process, the desktop switches colors several times, which isn't very pretty. (This is not about the multiple mode switches during boot.) At first we have the GDM theme, which has its own look, that's OK. But when I login: - 1) First, the desktop becomes a solid, light tan color (about #E09060), which I think is some default Ubuntu color. - 2) Then, it turns to some solid dark color (probably black, but my LCD isn't great and I can't be sure). - 3) Then, it turns to my wallpaper image ("elephant skin", I think it's called). + 1) First, the desktop becomes a solid color. [Edit: this seems to be the "background color" of the GDM theme, editable on the Local tab of the Login Window Preferences applet.] + 2) Then, it turns to a solid color. [Edit: This doesn't seem to happen anymore.] + 3) Then, it turns to my wallpaper image. - Ideally steps 1&2 should be eliminated. If it's impossible, there should - be a way to at least eliminate 1 or 2 (so we get a single temporary - color) and make the remaining color easily customizable (so we can set - it to something matching the wallpaper). + Ideally steps 1&2 should be eliminated. This means that the screen + should go from the GDM theme directly to the wallpaper. + + [Edit: Until that happens, one can set the colors in steps 1&2 to some + color that matches the wallpaper or the GDM theme, thus avoiding a bit + the color changes.]
