Hello, I'm exactly in the same case, as described here :
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=957672 I was still on Intrepid beta, all worked fine, but after the last update of yesterday, going on RC, at reboot all was normal until login, but after just a blank screen, with only the mouse cursor... The only thing which works is Ctrl Alt F1, logging in a terminal, I can see my files with "ls" command, so I should be able to make modifications or boot on a Live CD to repair this problem if a solution is found. I have this message written in the console : "kinit, no resume image, doing normal boot". And I also had a bug before on Gnome Power manager update, it didn't start anymore. On Ctrl Alt F1 console, as told above, I removed (sudo rm -rf) in /home the config folders .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity I restart GDM, selected "new Gnome session", then I get my own customized wallpaper, the welcome sound, a message telling that Gnome Power Manager is not correctly installed and... that's all : desktop and screen remain empty, no icon, no table board, no menu, no files, only the mouse cursor again ! Same thing on Gnome failsafe. Please, does someone have a solution to fix it ? I can reinstall, my /home is on a separate partition, but I'd like not to re-do some modifications again. Thanks ! -- After intrepid upgrade, gnome session won't start unless logging into "failsafe gnome" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/279450 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
