Apparently, I have the same issue on an Intrepid ibex beta : During boot, my monitor displays the message (translated from french) "Frequency too high". Note that this happens only on the version installed on the hdd, not with the live cd (downloaded about three or four days ago).
My monitor is a 17'' belinea LCD, that can handle 1280*1024, and has been used on another machine (a 650MHz Duron that is now retired) running various versions of ubuntu without problem. The "new" computer is an Athlon XP with an ATI video card. The ubuntu version installed on that machine is a fresh install, all disks were formated (including /home) before the install. Here are the outputs of some of the commands I found in this thread (not ddcprobe, as I don't have it on my system): cat /etc/usplash.conf # Usplash configuration file # These parameters will only apply after running update-initramfs. xres=1280 yres=1024 lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 uname -a Linux pepere-new 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Wed Oct 22 00:29:18 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux Regards Cyril BUTTAY ** Attachment added: "lspci-vvnn.txt" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18867600/lspci-vvnn.txt -- ATI "not synchronised signal" with 1280x1024 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/81206 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
