Howdy. The bug was so severe that it made using compiz pretty much impossible, so I uninstalled compiz. I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04 and compiz is mostly okay -- I'm also running the most recent nvidia driver. I'll give the water effect another go over the weekend and let you know what happens.
