I am seeing this same behavior with a BRAND NEW Dell Studio 15 laptop with Ubuntu preinstalled. Similar chipset (Intel GM965 aka X3100), same xf86-video-intel driver. I tried installing ArchLinux on the laptop and had the same problem when using the "intel" driver in xorg.conf. "vesa" works fine (except at low resolution of course).
The behavior is very odd. The screen goes completely white. Then, after a few seconds, dark lines start fading in. The lines are all different colors. It would be pretty if it were a screensaver. But it basically makes the system useless. Very frustrating. If anyone has any hints/tips/advice I would greatly appreciate it. I feel out of my depth trying to debug the intel driver.... -- Solid white screen that fades when using INTEL video driver on X4500MHD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/268036 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
