On a additional note, SCIM works only when your current focus is in a text area. If you do not have a text area under current focus, the trigger key combination is not going to show you the SCIM pop up not clicking on the SCIM notification icon is going to show you a drop down. Please try to trigger SCIM while having an active cursor on a text area.
