...returned to my Server after a bit of neglect (a week and a half). I had exactly the same error reported up top. I moved /var/lib/apt/lists/repoubuntusoftware.info_dists_harty_all_binary-i386_Packages to its parent directory: sudo cp /var/lib/apt/lists/repoubuntusoftware.info_dists_harty_all_binary-i386_Packages .. and then refreshed my update manager. Worked fine!
I am not sure what functionality I may be surpassing by not picking up /var/lib/apt/lists/repoubuntusoftware.info_dists_harty_all_binary- i386_Packages (some mouse button events...?); nevertheless, until that situ. gets cleaned up, I don't want to surpass using my server.
