If some kind of more sophisticated card detection is going to be done
for feisty's automatic X configuration, and no-one is interested in
fixing this upstream, this could be easily solved by choosing "radeon"
driver instead of "ati" for at least X300-X800 cards.

And no, fglrx should not be used for these cards, since there's a
working open source 3D driver available - open source drivers are meant
to be used in every place where it's not absolutely necessary for 3D,
meaning currently using binary drivers for ATI X1300-X1950 and all
NVIDIA cards.
