I just played around with Inkscape on a netbook and I think I've figured out what's happening:
The Inkscape window does not fit vertically on a 1024x600 display, you can't even resize it to be smaller than ~700px high. When the maximise hint is set on the window, whether it's from Maximus on the window titlebar itself, Metacity doesn't know what to do so it just removes the window borders but doesn't resize it (or tries and fails). I'm not sure what maximus or metacity can do in this circumstance (the same issue happens with Igano from gnome-games), as it won't force and application to be smaller than it's requested width. ** Changed in: netbook-remix Assignee: (unassigned) => Neil J.
