Public bug reported:

Alex asked for:

 1. your complete /var/log/syslog
 2. your /etc/network/interfaces
 3. your /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf
 4. the output you get on a terminal when running:
  a) dpkg -l network-manager*

also attach specific information about the net you are trying to
access (e.g. wired/wireless, static ip/dhcp, ...).

They are attached separated by ~~~~~~~~~.

nm-applet doesn't appear. Attempts to connected to an open access point
failed, those attempts reflected in the attached syslog were at a
library.

The machine works fine booting from a Fedora 10 beta live CD with
NetworkManager connecting to a WPA access point.

** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
