** Description changed:

  External firewire HD (WD 5000 - 1 TB) not recognized in 2.6.27-5. I
  believe it was automagically mounted in all previous kernels - has
  worked fine since Gutsy, through Hardy, and Intrepid alphas 1-4. I
  noticed it disappear for the first time yesterday after my daily update.
  Not sure what was updated that would have affected it.
  
  It used to be here, and would also autopopulate the desktop:
