Partially :) - GAIM is now Pidgin. - Pidgin still has quite sucking ICQ implementation since they're using AOL OSCAR protocol as for AIM without really taking ICQ specific stuff into account. So as of 8.10 beta:
1) File transfers: Pidgin still sucks and able only to perform "NEW" (OFT2 protocol) file transfers. These will work with AIM and official ICQ clients. Also newer non-official clients are implementing this as well. Older ICQ 200x clients and old unofficial clients with classic ICQ file transfer still not working but their number reduced slightly since times when bug has been reported. So, severity of this problem is relaxed. 2) I did not seen problematic messages for a while. I believe that this issue gone. 3) Problems with encodings are mostly fixed. I only can see minor issues like status messages sometimes can have wrong encoding or UTF-8 not decoded. Not a big deal. 4) Finally there is much better ICQ client exist as of 2008: qutim - it works with ICQ, it uses QT and takes ICQ specific stuff into account. -- ICQ protocol partially broken in GAIM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112858 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
