Confirmed on a T42 running hardy with instant updates. I noticed that
the problem has become worse with an update around last week. The volume
keys used to in-/decrease volume by 9%, which I find too much already
(I'd also favour 5%). Since that update the volume jump doubled, I could
even see the double event taking place in the OSD. Everytime I pressed
the keys, the volume bar increased two times quickly after another,
adding up to a volume jump of 19%.

I use past tense here because modifying the acpi-events files like
described helped to restore the "default" behavior.

Anyways, I'd like to be able to configure the amount of volume
reduction/increase via a config file of some sort. If that is already
possible, maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance,

Martin
