I've been updating at least twice a day recently because this problem really has been a big pain. If I'd known what using intrepid entailed, I probably would have stuck with hardy. AAaanyway, the latest update included compiz 1:0.7.8-0ubuntu4 Kudos to Aaron and everyone who's been involved, It seemed to work, for about 30 seconds, and then firefox crashed. I hope this was a one off, all seems OK now, certainly better. Firefox was certainly the worst affected for me (this got loads worse before it got better) Only been testing for a few minutes, but it seems a really screwed up computer has become a usable one.
