I agree update-manager -d should imply -c but shouldnt gksudo "update- manager" give you the next stable version as an upgrade option (as long as its stable). I dont see this as being a problem with end users. this way they "know" there is an updated version of ubuntu that is stable. that would come in handy when the users release is running out of support. seeing as its only an 18 month turn around. I dont think the average user knows how long the support cycle is. I have had alot of questions in the past as to how long will breezy be support or hoary.
