This "Bug" or whatever we want to call it is a consistent issue on my system as well. While logged in after locking the screen, after a reboot sometimes, almost certainly after updates, and sometimes it goes a few weeks without issue.
This can be frustrating, easily. The default needs to be set to NOT allow mouse control via numpad... PLEASE An easy fix once you know what happened, but infuriating if you are taken off-guard and an extreme annoyance at best... Occurs for me in Hardy Beta, Hardy Final and Intrepid Beta... Regarless of upgrade or fresh install.
