Ok, those of you still experiencing this race condition, please do the following:
1. Move /etc/xdg/autostart/pulseaudio.desktop out of the way, i.e so it doesn't exist in that directory. 2. Place the attached 70pulseaudio file in /etc/X11/Xsession.d. 3. Place the attached pulse-session file into /usr/bin, and chmod it 755. Then log in again, and let me know the results. With the above steps, I am attempting to move the pulseaudio startup even further back in the X login procedure, to give it more time to settle before the startup sound plays, and so pulse is more or less ready when GNOME's sound support from gnome-settings-daemon is loaded. Please get back to me ASAP, so I can get an upload in before release freeze.
