** Description changed: Binary package hint: ubiquity Started the Xubuntu Intrepid 8.10 daily-live cd for 2008-10-09. When it got to the desktop, I attempted to install using the Install icon on the Desktop. Step 3 of 7, "Prepare disk space", selected "Manual", clicked on "Forward". Box comes up, "Scanning disks", progress bar goes from 0% to 100%, box goes away. Spinner continues spinning and there is no further progress; can not quit. Waited 30 minutes; no further responses. reproducible - I tried this twice. I have go to Ctl-Alt-F2, use "sudo shutdown -r now" to reboot the system out of this lockup. Check of System Monitor shows xfce4-mixer-plugin taking 3% CPU; no other tasks running. There are 6 Bash processes sleeping. Tried killing them, they come back but there is no change in the installation screen. I did save all the log files; attaching contents of /var/log/installer/debug, /var/log/bootstrap.log, /var/log/casper.log, /var/log/daemon.log. let me know if others are needed. - Tags: Intrepid Xubuntu + Tags: Intrepid Xubuntu Ubuntu
