I have to take back, that my system works after increasing the voltage
as stated in post 346.

The problem reappeared on my system (no hardware changes, no usb setup
changes) first in Intrepid Beta ( using the latest [final?] 2.6.27
kernel ) and soon after on my actual Hardy system.

So I am at the beginning again. Disabling ehci is NOT an option for me,
as I do my backups to external drives which involve several GB data
volume.

I already considered buying a new motherboard, but reading again through
all the posts, I suspect that there is no real guarantee that it will
work.

So my last experiment before I take it personally will by to use a pci
based usb controller card and see what happens.

This is extremely annoying !
