I tried the PPA package on the first Ubuntu Intrepid beta, but sl-modem fails to start with this error message:
$ sudo /etc/init.d/sl-modem-daemon start Only access through ALSA is available on amd64 but slamr driver was chosen! Make sure that an ALSA driver for your chipset is available and is loaded and that access to SmartLink modem components is supported by it. The older sl-modem-daemon_2.9.9d+e-pre2-12_amd64.deb package from the Debian archive has the same failure. The computer is a Lenovo T61 (ICH8), and I checked that the modem card is actually installed. The necessary ALSA modules seem to be loaded, but the modem is not enumerated: $ cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel HDA Intel at 0xfe220000 irq 17 $ uname -a Linux regazo 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Fri Oct 10 03:55:01 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux -- please sync sl-modem-daemon for amd64 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151562 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
