Did a test with a different camera. It's a Panasonic (Lumix) DMC-FX3.
Here I also receive a similar bug. If I plug it in I receive the
following error:

"Error initialising the camera: 53: Could not claim camera"

The strange thing is, if I just click ok there and wait for about 3
minutes suddenly the normal "Camera detect - What do you want to do"
dialog pops up, I can select F-Spot from there, it opens and start
loading the pictures. But there it takes forever, loading pictures
unbelievably slow. 20 ~ 30 secs per picture. If I cancel that "Camera
detected" dialog though and just use f-spot-import I again just receive
the libghoto2 error "Could not claim USB device" that I posted in the
bug report.
