I'm also having this issue.

   running apmsleep give an error:
     $ apmsleep +0:01
     apmsleep: warning: This program must be run as root or have the SUID 
attribute set
     apmsleep: Your kernel does not support APM.
     apmsleep: Recompile kernel with APM and /dev/rtc support

      $ cat /etc/lsb-release
