Hey Matt, When you have a patch please subscribe one of the sponsors teams, either "ubuntu-main-sponsors" or "ubuntu-universe-sponsors" so that your patch can be reviewed for inclusion. I have done this now for you.
You say "The patch probably won't make it to upstream as it currently is; I've got some reviews to make it better." Do you mean that your patch has been reviewed and isn't ready? I don't see any comments in the upstream bug. What were the review comments? If they were just stylistic that's fine, but anything more and we want to know because it may influence our decision.
