I upgraded from 8.04 to Intrepid this morning. No way to make NM work. I tried all the hints above, none solved. I had problems both with NM and /etc/network/interfaces interaction, and /etc/resolv.conf. Disabling a (static) eth0 from interfaces, made NM work, except no resolver could be used, I had to change them by hand in resolv.conf. At boot time, NM clears the file. Solution: uninstalled NM and returned to the old static interfaces and resolv.conf files.
