thanks for your help, the package could be installed, but my system
keeps tell me it wasn`t fully updated.
my sollution was doeing a apt-get dist upgrade.
after that all worked just fine.
If i can help you guys with your good work with Ubuntu I would be glad
to do something back.

Maybe an error occurs while downloading the package.
can you please open a terminal and run the following commands and
report if it helps:
- sudo apt-get clean
- sudo apt-get install --reinstall libnss3-1d

Bug description:
I was updating from ubuntu 8.04 (ultimate edition 1.9) when i received
several faults, whene rebooting i couldn`t load the new kernel (my pc
keeps beeping and then it doesn`t load any further).
Happy thing about it is that the old kernel exists and i still can load
it.
