Ben, can you please try something for me? Run `xev` from a console. A window pops up. Press the right alt key down, and then release it. Then, without putting the mouse cursor in that window, close it out by clicking the "x". Post the last two paragraphs of the output here. They should start with "Keypress event," and "KeyRelease event."
