Sorry, dx9s. I did: sudo /etc/init.d/pulseaudio stop killall /usr/bin/pulseaudio pulseaudio (no sudo)
and it worked. Killing all pulseaudio instanced and then doing "sudo pulseaudio" did nothing. When I startup gnome, I noticed that /usr/bin/pulseaudio is being run. I looked into the session thing, but I can't find it there.
