** Attachment added: "usplash.conf"

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: libusplash0

On my laptop (a HP hdx 9400) 8.04 x86 and x86_64 boot fine with splash
enabled.
- With 8.10 I'm unable to boot either the live cd or the installed version
unless I modify the kernel parameters. The system starts to beep until it beeps
continuously. I don't think it would continue to boot but my nerves prohibit
waiting longer than 20 seconds with that sound. This happens so early that no
log file in /var/log is written yet.
+ With 8.10 (tested against alpha 2 - beta) I'm unable to boot either the live
cd or the installed version unless I modify the kernel parameters. The system

boot but my nerves prohibit waiting longer than 20 seconds with that sound.

If I change the parameters such that splash is not used (e.g adding vga=3
noquiet and remove splash option 8.10 boots fine) .
